What is a video project report for construction?

Published

A video project report, often shortened to VPR, is a short film that records how a construction project progressed over a fixed period. Most projects produce one every month, alongside the written progress report.

Why projects use video reports

A written report says that a pier was cast or a stretch of embankment was completed. A video report shows it. Reviewers who cannot visit the site, such as board members, lenders or ministry officials, can see the actual state of the work in a few minutes.

For long linear projects like railways, freight corridors and highways, video also solves a distance problem. A single drone session can record kilometres of work that would take days to inspect on foot.

What goes into a video project report

A typical report includes:

Why the same flight path matters

Progress is easiest to see when two shots match. If the drone flies the same route at the same height and angle every visit, the difference between two months is the work itself, not a change in camera position. This is the single most important habit in progress documentation.

Drone permissions in India

Drone flights in India follow the applicable drone rules, and airspace is divided into zones. Some sites, such as those near airports or sensitive installations, need prior permission. A good survey team checks the zone for every site before the first flight and plans the schedule around any approval needed.

How to start

Share the site location, the length or area of the project, the work fronts that matter and the format of your written report. A video report works best when it follows the same structure as the document it sits beside.

The Wasp Studio produces drone survey footage and video project reports for infrastructure projects, including a Dedicated Freight Corridor project. Get a quote or read about our construction video reports.
